Well, it took a while to get back into the swing of life in rainy Manchester but I haven’t been resting on my laurels since my return. So what next?
As you know if you read my Boston chronicles, I recorded the bulk of the tracks for my CD with Craig Robertson whilst I was there. There’s still a bit of work to do but it’s slowly getting done. I’ve decided that I want everything finished and ready to print by my birthday next month. It seems like a good cut-off point (and let’s face it, I need one) so keep an eye out for more CD news mid-to-late September.
Lou and the Llamas
Following the call out I did on the back of the Portas Pilot video, I’ve assembled a band of Levenshulme musicians. We’ve had a few rehearsals now and it’s starting to sound good! The line up so far is drums and double bass with me on ukes, guitar and vocal. I also have a few more musicians lined up to join us along the way.
This is very exciting, if a little nerve racking for me; after playing in bands for over twenty years, this is the first time I’ve ever put a band together to solely work on my own tunes. We even have a name now too: Lou and the Llamas, coming to a venue near you soon!
I’m planning a rather special event at the Klondyke Club in Levenshulme on Friday 9th November. Lou and the Llamas are on the bill of course, along with a host of other fantastic Levenshulme talent. Stay tuned for updates!
The band will do a few warm up gigs before then though. I’m also starting to do more solo performances. I had a great last minute gig on Saturday at HIWTAI organised by Z-Arts, thanks to Single Cell Collective. It loooks like I’ll be performing with Paula Darwish again next month too. Keep an eye on the Live page – I’ll keep it updated as dates get confirmed. And to hear about last minutes affairs like Saturday’s do, follow me on the Twitters!
More treats for your ears coming soon…
